Forum: dose counter needed for salbutamol inhalers

asthma reliever puffer on its side

“I call on the regulators to insist that all inhaled medications for asthma and COPD have a dose counter that is readable by patients with low vision. We currently have inhalers with no dose counters e.g. Ventolin and Asmol and some that are so tiny that you need a magnifying glass to read them e.g. Seretide.

It would be an interesting honours research project to know how many deaths from asthma could be contributed to empty cannisters but it is very hard to obtain the cannisters from a persons home/handbag/car/office desk post death.”
