It is estimated that 4 out of 10 Australians are lacking sleep. A major cause of our sleep-deprived nation is the increasing prevalence of sleep disorders, such as obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA).

What is OSA?

OSA is characterised by recurrent episodes of partial or complete obstruction of the upper airway during sleep. If left untreated, OSA can have serious health implications including high blood pressure, stroke and heart disease.

What is the PSS program?

The Pharmacy Sleep Services (PSS) has developed a program to support and equip pharmacists with the necessary tools to identify, screen, test, diagnose and treat patients with OSA.
Key features of the PSS program:

  • An entirely in-pharmacy run program ensures the relationship stays between the patient and the pharmacy. No doctor referral is required.
  • Provides full and ongoing training for pharmacy staff, plus a dedicated Account Manager
  • Allows access to all market-leading brands and a host of marketing and training support to ensure pharmacies can advertise and run sleep health services and drive awareness amongst their community
