MedicalDirector and SHPA have released the digital version of the Australian Injectable Drugs Handbook (AIDH) 7th Edition

The Australian Injectable Drugs Handbook 7th Edition is a key resource for healthcare professionals who are administering injectable drugs to patients.

The edition has been enhanced to include:

  • 450 injectable medicines, with all entries fully revised, including:
    • 65 antineoplastic medicines,
    • 23 new monographs, and
    • 5 anti-venoms;
  • An increased focus on warnings and patient monitoring; and
  • Expanded content on extravasation, intravenous fluids and sample infusion-rate calculations.

“SHPA developed this edition of the AIDH in response to feedback received from nurses and pharmacists,” says SHPA Chief Executive Kristin Michaels.

“We have designed a new layout for the monographs, listed antineoplastic monographs with other monographs alphabetically making them easily identifiable and, in partnership with MedicalDirector, ensured that supporting material is now indexed and searchable, creating a more practical resource that can be used every day.”

The most comprehensive resource of its kind, the AIDH provides up-to-date information on injectable medicines and has become a vital resource supporting the day-to-day practice of nurses, pharmacists and clinicians throughout Australia.

MedicalDirector has been working in partnership with the SHPA to digitise the AIDH since 2012.

The 7th edition is device responsive, easy to use and integrates seamlessly with institutional library systems and off-site authentication platforms.

“We are delighted to again have the opportunity to re-establish our ongoing partnership with SHPA and look forward to supporting the evolution of their flagship AIDH resource,” says Allison Hart, Manager of MedicalDirector Publishing and Knowledge.
