“My second patient of the day rang the health line at 3am as she was in severe pain. She explained the situation and was asked what pain medicines did she have. She had Paracetamol 500mg and codeine 30mg in the house that had not been prescribed for her. She was asked what she was allergic to and told them she was allergic to morphine. she gets severe urticaria and breathing issues with morphine in the past….
…she was told to take one tablet of the paracetamol and codeine and then in four hours to take another if still in pain.”
