“Magnesium supplementation seems to be mostly in the form of magnesium aspartate. This can be quite expensive if the dose is 4-6tablets per day. Is there a difference in efficacy between different salts, apart from the amount of elemental Mg contained in them? Is there any difference in the laxative effect of the different salts? How much magnesium is required to raise serum magnesium 0.1mmol/L? What is the most cost effective product available?”
