Forum: NDSS

the word diabetes is written on a chalkboard

An AusPharm member writes: “Am I missing something? the new scheme of requiring patients accessing the scheme to have a six monthly review is staggered based on when the patient first obtained supplies under the new scheme.

How am I supposed to deal with the patients who now come in for supplies only to be told that they are no longer current on the NDSS website and need to see a GP to renew their form. patients on strips may be able to wait for their next gp visit but pump patients often cannot.

is their some reminder service in the NDSS portal that I am missing?”

The portal does say what their “valid to” date is so you can try to send them to the GP before it runs out. It only applies to non-insulin dependent type 2 diabetics. The strips supply to those on insulin doesn’t have an end date.

You can print off a form from the NDSS website, have the customer fill out their section and fax straight off to their GP, then ask their GP to complete the certifier section and fax it back to you. Then you enter the details back into the NDSS site and away you go.
