Forum: Travelling with insulin

Girl giving herself insulin shot

“I have a patient who is heading to Europe for 6 weeks who uses an Insulin pump.  She has access to fridges whilst she is there, and she has asked me if there is any need to get a special travel bag for the flight.

Insulin is allowed to be out of the fridge for 4 weeks whilst in use, and my understanding for longer term storage is that it is a cumulative 4 weeks out of the fridge, so 6 weeks with the not in use Insulin being refrigerated for the majority of the time would be fine.

Is my thinking wrong, or is there a product/solution that would be better.”
