Guild members in Queensland have been given new status when it comes to flu vaccination
The Pharmacy Guild’s Queensland Branch now has Preferred Supplier status with the State Government for members to provide flu vaccinations to employees at several State Government Departments during the 2018 flu season, it says.
Pharmacy Guild of Australia Queensland Branch President Trent Twomey says that the 2018 Guild Corporate Vaccination Program commenced on Monday 19 March and has already received significant participation from members, Government Department and employees.
“To date, twelve Government Departments have confirmed their participation in the program, with over 106, 000 employees,” he says.
“We also have confirmed participation from RSL Queensland and are liaising with other State Government Departments and private entities to participate in the 2018 program.
“We are thrilled to facilitate this remunerated service to our members and increase recognition of community pharmacies throughout Queensland as a health destination,” Mr Twomey says.
The Guild has partnered with GuildLink to create an online booking system using the GuildCare NG platform.
“To date, we have received over 2400 bookings and over 1530 completed vaccinations,” Mr Twomey says.
“The booking system allows the pharmacy to manage their vaccination availability and for the employee to make an online booking at a time and pharmacy that is convenient to them.
“Traditional workplace vaccination programs require minimum employee participation numbers, costly travel expenses for vaccinators and a high level of coordination from the employer.
“Our innovative solution allows employees to make an appointment online with their local community pharmacy at a time which suits their work commitments and lifestyle.
“Importantly, our program allows Government Departments to tap into the reliable network of community pharmacies across regional and metropolitan Queensland,” he says.
Registration is still open to Queensland Guild Members.
The 2018 Guild Corporate Vaccination Program facilitates influenza vaccination services to eligible Government Department employees which have signed up to the Guild program.
Pharmacies will only be remunerated for influenza vaccination services provided to participating Government Departments. Vaccinations provided to other Government Department employees (outside of the program) will not be remunerated.
