Change to chemo compounding claims

The Government has advised on changes for compounding pharmacists and other suppliers

From 1 December 2017, approved suppliers (approved pharmacists, approved medical practitioners and approved public and private hospital authorities) will be required to enter a compounder ID when submitting claims for eligible PBS EFC items through PBS Online.

Claims submitted without a compounder ID from this date will be rejected.

Approved suppliers are responsible for ensuring they have the compounder ID for any eligible PBS EFC items they claim.

Where they undertake their own compounding, they will need to have obtained their compounder ID from the Chemotherapy Compounding Payment Scheme (CCPS) Administration Agency, Australian Healthcare Associates (AHA).

If an approved supplier has not already done so, they have been advised to contact the CCPS Administration Agency as soon as possible to obtain their ID ahead of any claims that need to be lodged for PBS EFC items on and from 1 December 2017.

Further information on how to obtain a compounder ID is available on the Chemotherapy Compounding Payment Scheme (CCPS) page.
