New infant fever resource

Guild Learning and Development has introduced an online course on fevers

The course is aimed at helping pharmacy assistants handle requests for medicines for fever and provide appropriate advice by utilising the ASK ASSESS ADVISE protocol.

Guild Learning and Development is partnering with RB in the development of the QCPP Refresher Training approved course titled Managing fever in infants and toddlers.

This course examines the red flag symptoms of fever that require immediate referral to a pharmacist as well as non-medication strategies that can assist with fever management.

The course also looks at two common medications used to treat fever and how they compare with regard to tolerability.

Parents commonly present to a pharmacy seeking advice on how to manage fever in infants and younger children, the Guild says.

In such cases, pharmacy assistants are often the first person that the customer speaks to, and as such, play an important role in recognising where referral to the pharmacist is appropriate.

This activity has been approved for 30 minutes of QCPP Refresher Training and will help pharmacy assistants complete their three hours of QCPP Refresher Training requirement.

To enrol in this course please visit www.myCPD.org.au or contact Guild Learning and Development on 03 9810 9930 or email learninganddevelopment@guild.org.au for more information.

Guild Learning and Development has thanked RB for its financial support and input of expertise in the development of this course.
