The Pharmacy Guild of Australia is set to host Pharmacy Connect, a new national conference in 2016, which it says is set to become a key event on the annual pharmacy calendar.
The program will include future-focused business and clinical education sessions, a trade exhibition with 60+ exhibitors, Welcome Reception and Gala Dinner.
Managed by the team that produces the Australian Pharmacy Professional Conference, Pharmacy Connect will replace the Pharmacy Business Network in Melbourne and the National Convention & Exhibition in Sydney.
Conference Convenor, Kos Sclavos says that Pharmacy Connect meets the need identified by pharmacy owners, pharmacy managers and manufacturers for an industry conference in the second half of the year, replicating the successful components of APP.
“Research shows there is an overwhelming desire for an event in the second half of the year that includes a strong focus on the practical aspects of pharmacy, particularly business,” says Sclavos.
“The Conference will also serve as a platform to launch initiatives from the Sixth Community Pharmacy Agreement, both from the Pharmacy Guild of Australia and private companies,” Sclavos says.
Sclavos says he is excited by new opportunities that are being presented to community pharmacy via the 6CPA and believes Pharmacy Connect will offer delegates the tools they need to harness those opportunities.
“Attendance at Pharmacy Connect will help pharmacy owners and staff develop practical business skills they can implement in their stores, he said.
“The program will offer industry updates and trends; business growth, profitability and management topics; advice and practical examples of successful and profitable implementation of processional services; access to business mentoring; and much more.
“There is now an opportunity for the pharmaceutical industry to launch products and services in the second half of the year, complementing the structured programs we offer with APP,” he said.
