Building better connections

The latest updates in pharmacy events: what’s happening at Pharmacy Connect 2021?

Pharmacy owners wanting to establish patient centred pharmacies with closer pharmacist-patient connections will benefit from attending this year’s Pharmacy Connect, with the conference’s theme focussing on this increasingly important topic.

Kos Sclavos AM, Conference Convenor and former Guild National President, said pharmacists cannot underestimate the value of the enhanced pharmacist-patient relationship, as often their patients’ health and well-being can depend on it.

“There are several reasons why this relationship must be strengthened,” Mr Sclavos said.

“The need for improved medication compliance is number one, but other benefits include retaining patients who are loyal and effectively become pharmacy advocates by spreading the word of excellent service.”

Addressing this theme, the just-released conference program features sessions on enhancement to e-health, digital technology to better connect with patients, maximising medication compliance, and efficient business operations to support pharmacists to better connect with patients.

The program also includes motivational presentations, including keynote addresses by three-time Olympian and Olympic gold medallist for rowing, Kim Brennan AM, and mentor and coach, Peter Thurin.

Mr Sclavos said that planning for Pharmacy Connect is going “full steam ahead” and that he is looking forward to connecting with pharmacy colleagues in Sydney in September.

“All of those who had the opportunity to join us at APP2021 on the Gold Coast know the benefits of meeting face-to-face as an industry. We’re very excited for what Sydney will have to offer with Pharmacy Connect,” Mr Sclavos said.

Pharmacy Connect is a COVID-Safe event hosted by the Pharmacy Guild’s New South Wales Branch.

For those wanting to save on the registration fee, early bird is open until 30 July.
