The Pharmacy Guild’s NSW branch has this week announced that the dates of the 2021 Pharmacy Connect conference in Sydney have been moved back slightly to September.

The dates have been moved from August to 2-4 September 2021.

Pharmacy Connect Convenor and former Guild National President, Kos Sclavos AM, said pushing the event back to its original date in September was made because the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) event conflict forcing the move had been resolved.

“Originally, we had to change the date for Pharmacy Connect as there was a scheduling conflict with International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP),” said Mr. Sclavos. “Now that FIP has been pushed back to 2023, we’ve been able to move back to our preferred dates of 2-4 September 2021.

Mr. Sclavos said he was also thrilled that the Pharmacy Guild of Australia had secured the Austrade funding for attendees of the event.

“The $50 million Business Events Grants Program is a great initiative by the Federal Government to encourage more delegates and exhibitors to attend conferences in 2021,” said Mr Sclavos, “we’re so excited that we were able to secure this funding for APP2021 as well as Pharmacy Connect.

“Tickets for Pharmacy Connect open on 2 March, and as there are only 800 places available, and with the Federal Government assistance being made available, we’re expecting a lot of interest in this event”.

Meanwhile, the Guild also announced that Federal Shadow Minister for Health and Aged Care, Mark Butler, will address APP delegates on Thursday 20 May, presenting his position on community pharmacy.

Mr Butler joins his ALP colleague, pharmacist Emma McBride, Shadow Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Carers, and Federal Minister for Health and Aged Care, Greg Hunt, in confirming their APP attendance.
