The combined weight of Chemplus and the Terry White Group has seen the South Australian-based network reporting increased retail sales and the addition of two new pharmacies.

The Terry White Group completed the acquisition of the franchisor Chem Plus Pty Ltd in July of last year, outlining plans to use the strengths of each to grow the other.

Chemplus CEO Nick Tsamaidis says those plans were “beginning to bear fruit” with the most recent sales results showing Chemplus tracking up almost 8% on the back of Terry White Group’s retail strategy.

“Front of shop profit is supporting the delivery of health services and freeing up time for our pharmacists to get on with the job of being pharmacists,” Tsamaidis says.

“Maintaining key Chemplus management, and working together with the Terry White Group to ensure sensitivity to the brand’s specific needs, has made for a seamless transition.”

Last week saw the release of retail results showing the Terry White Chemists network was up 18% for the first half (to 31 December 2015).

This week sees a significant uptick for the Chemplus network, where December retail sales are tracking up 7.9% on a like for like pharmacy basis, compared with last year.

Terry White Group CEO Anthony White says sales growth across the Group is encouraging and demonstrates the agility and strength of its retail strategy.

“Together we have been able to deliver improved results within a relatively short timeframe,” White says.

“The two brands co-exist and compliment each other well. Both emphasise health services and outcomes as a priority, strong community connections and have a robust merchandise strategy that includes the most extensive private label offering in the market.

“As pharmacies around Australia focus on profitability and improved health outcomes they will increasingly look for value for money conversion solutions and our success in growing both brands demonstrates maximum flexibility and alignment with those goals.”

In addition to increased retail sales, Chemplus has recently welcomed two new pharmacies to its network,at Blackwood and Western Hospital.

Tsamaidis says planning is now “well advanced” for the Group’s annual supplier Expo at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on June 21, and for the first time, it will include Chemplus and Terry White Chemists owners.

“This year will be bigger and better than ever – there is a definite sense of excitement in the air and we look forward to joining with Terry White Chemists for what is sure to be a fantastic event,” he says.
