PATY: nominations closing soon!

There’s just two weeks to go, to nominate an outstanding pharmacy assistant for the 2016 Pharmacy Guild of Australia/GuildSuper Pharmacy Assistant of the Year Award (PATY).

Third party nominations close on Friday 3 June and self-nominations close on Friday 24 June.

The year see’s the Guild’s 10 year involvement with the Award and the recognition of pharmacy assistants for their outstanding contribution to community pharmacy, says Guild president, George Tambassis.

“The Pharmacy Assistant of the Year Award is a public platform to recognise the important and valuable role that pharmacy assistants play in our industry. In addition, participants meet with like-minded professionals to bring fresh ideas and motivated thinking, to improve their own pharmacies.

“I encourage community pharmacy owners, employers, staff and customers to show how much they appreciate their local pharmacy assistant and nominate them for PATY today,” says Tambassis.

GuildSuper, general manager Theresa Mills, says the organisation is pleased to be the major sponsor of the PATY award.

“GuildSuper is a trusted partner within the pharmacy community and we are committed to helping our members build their superannuation savings to afford the best possible lifestyle when they finish working”.

“We are pleased to support the PATY award as it reinforces our commitment to the pharmacy community and also acknowledges the valuable service of frontline staff in pharmacies. The award also provides a valuable opportunity to reward and further develop the careers of pharmacy assistants.”

Nominations are open online at Anyone can nominate a pharmacy assistant and it only takes a few minutes.

Successful nominees will be asked to attend a state-based workshop, where they can showcase their passion, knowledge and leadership skills while learning from their peers and Guild presenters.

A winner from each state will be flown to the Pharmacy Assistant National Conference on the Gold Coast in October for the final workshop and announcement of the national winner. Additionally, the national winner will receive a $5,000 cash prize and a Guild Training course to the value of $5,100 plus many more great prizes and rewards.
