A Sydney pharmacist has failed to turn up to court on time to face a sexual assault charge

The pharmacist was due to face Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday.

He had been arrested in July after police officers from Botany Bay Police Area Command investigated a complaint that a 19-year-old woman was assaulted by a 45-year-old man, after she went to a pharmacy in Mascot for a consultation on July 1, 2019.

On Wednesday 24 July 2019, the man attended Mascot Police Station and was arrested.

He was charged with sexual assault without consent, and two counts of sexually touch another person without consent and given conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on 21 August.

However according to the Daily Telegraph, the pharmacist failed to show up on time.

He was running late, according to his lawyer.

The matter has now been adjourned to October 2019.
