Shoplifter comes back to fill script

Most shoplifters don’t leave their name and address behind them for pharmacies to follow up… but this Bundaberg women did just that

The Northern Star reports that on November 10 2017, Huong Thanh Nguyen went to a Discount Drug Store in Bundaberg and used a catalogue held over her hands to disguise the fact that she was shoplifting.

Ms Nguyen stole a bottle of vitamins worth $30.

Then next day, she went back to the same pharmacy and handed over a prescription, which included her name and address.

This made it easy for police to identify her from the previous day’s CCTV footage, the Bundaberg Magistrate’s Court has heard.

Ms Nguyen pleaded guilty to one count of stealing. She has one previous conviction.

She did not explain to the Court why she went back to the same pharmacy she had stolen from to fill her script.

She was sentenced to 40 hours’ community service and a conviction was recorded.
