APP2021 program now available

APP2019, prior to the pandemic. Plenary session

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia has released its program for the Australian Pharmacy Professional Conference and Trade Exhibition

The conference is expected to take place on 20-23 May on the Gold Coast.

Kos Sclavos AM, APP Convenor and former Guild National President, reminded community pharmacists, pharmacy staff and other industry players that super early bird registration closes soon.

“The countdown is on to APP2021 in May! We’ve seen a great uptake with many attendees already registered,” said Mr. Sclavos.

“Super early bird registration—which sees attendees saving over 20% off their full registration—closes on 8 February.”

Mr. Sclavos said this year’s program boasts some not-to-be-missed speakers.

“We’ve got some fantastic speakers this year including Australia’s leading retail expert, Gary Mortimer, who will be speaking on consumer behaviour in a post-COVID world and Craig James, Chief Economist at CommBank, who will be speaking on the new Australian economy,” said Mr Sclavos.

“We will also have the opportunity to hear from past Australian Olympians Anna Meares OAM and Steven Bradbury OAM. I am particularly interested in attending sessions which focus on the practical learnings out of COVID: how to survive and thrive in a post-COVID environment,” Mr Sclavos said.

Mr Sclavos assured attendees that a robust COVID Safe Event Plan is in place.

“APP2021 has a comprehensive COVID Safe Event Plan developed to keep attendees safe. Attendee safety is our number one priority, and this detailed plan considers several contingency scenarios that may occur in this ever-changing world,” said Mr Sclavos.

“We are continually keeping abreast of all state and territory border restrictions and have contingencies in place to deal with any circumstances that may arise. As 2020 demonstrated, the Guild is nimble at adapting to changing conditions.

“We continue to work closely with the Queensland Government Public Health Unit and the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre to mitigate any potential COVID-19 risks for APP2021. We want to ensure that the pharmacy industry can reconnect with care at APP2021 in May and look forward to seeing everyone there”.

Mr. Sclavos also reminded delegates and exhibitors that the Guild has been successful in securing grant support through Austrade.

The grant is part of a $50M Business Events Grants program launched by the Federal Government to support the post-COVID economic recovery of the business events sector. To be eligible for the funding, delegates and exhibitors must spend a minimum of $20K to get as much as 50% returned to them.
