Even more mind-blowing, a ‘proteus pill’ has been approved for use in one drug – Ablify (aripiprazole) in the US. This pill has an embedded sensor that is activated by the digestive enzymes, and transmits data about your medications via Bluetooth to an app.

This will be useful for people who have trouble remembering if they have taken their meds, and/or the correct dosage.
