A first for Amcal

Amcal, has officially welcomed members of the pharmacy industry to the launch of its first Amcal+ Life Clinic pharmacy located in Burwood, Melbourne

Held at Shop 20 Burwood One Shopping Centre, the opening event saw addresses from prominent figures within the pharmacy community, including Anthony Tassone from the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, along with Mark Hooper, CEO and Managing Director of Sigma Healthcare.

In attendance was also brand partner and supercars champion, Jack Perkins, as well as renowned pharmacy industry leader, Bruce Annabel.

Amcal+ Life Clinic is the newest pharmacy format to be launched from Amcal and is designed to complement the current Amcal+ and Express format pharmacies through collaborative, accessible patient healthcare.

According to Amcal, the end to end retail pharmacy business model champions premium pharmacist led health services, allied health practitioners and targeted product ranging to complement key health categories.

This collaborative approach to expanded health services was unveiled at the Amcal and Guardian retail conference earlier this year.

In addition to the  health services on offer, the new format will expand on Amcal’s existing technology capabilities by introducing Becton Dickinson’s V Motion touch screens and dispensary automation.

This touch screen technology enhances patient and pharmacist engagement through expanded clinical knowledge database, product formularies and automated product delivery.

Automation is extended to prescription items with dispensing via the world-class Becton Dickinson ‘Vmax Rowa’ dispensing robot. This innovation is designed to dispense pharmacy products with a high degree of efficiency and accuracy, allowing pharmacists more time to deliver face-to-face patient care.

Local pharmacist and owner, Linh Tran, said she was delighted to launch the first Amcal+ Life Clinic in Australia, providing the community with access to what is considered the future of pharmacy.

“We are proud to be launching our industry leading pharmacy format that has a clear focus on delivering improved health outcomes, with easy access to an extended range of pharmacy services,” said Ms Tran.

“Importantly this new ‘clinic and consult’ format will provide both pharmacist led and allied health services, including sleep apnoea clinics, diabetes management reviews, podiatry, bone density screening, advanced audiometry, nursing and advanced wound care.”

Head of Amcal, Kurt O’Brien, said today’s launch will set the benchmark in pharmacy care for many years to come.

“We [Amcal] are continually monitoring the landscape to ensure we are creating pharmacies to cater to the future needs of Australians,” said Mr. O’Brien.

“Today’s launch signals a commitment to just that – our first Amcal+ Life Clinic pharmacy will deliver a holistic patient experience that lives up to our mission of putting trusted healthcare within the reach of every Australian,” he said.
