Blackmores and Bega launch infant nutrition products and put pharmacy at the top of the list.
Blackmores has partnered with Bega to develop a nutritional range of infant formula products. The first products in the range are on sale today, 16 January.
According to Blackmores’ CEO Christine Holgate, pharmacies are the first group to receive the new infant formulas, which will equate to 80% of the available supply.
Pharmacy is the company’s immediate focus so that mums receive quality advice from a “trusted” healthcare professional, says Holgate.
“We’ve developed three Australian-made products, formulated with the highest quality, premium ingredients and based on the combined expertise of Blackmores and Bega’s subsidiary Tatura,” says Holgate. “Together our companies have more than 180 years of combined experience in nutrition and dairy manufacture which is one of the key reasons our customers trust our quality and ingredients.”
Blackmores also says it is bolstering its healthcare professional support in infant nutrition which includes the addition of a breastfeeding counsellor to its free call advisory service.
“Blackmores supports breastfeeding as optimal nutrition for babies, though it’s also important to have a high quality offering for when breastfeeding is not possible,” Holgate says..
The partnership between Blackmores and Bega will be an important additional source of supply for the Australian infant nutrition market, the company’s say in a media statement.
“We are conscious of the supply challenges in this category and the Blackmores and Tatura teams will work together to help ensure the continued supply of this range,” says Holgate.
The products will supply the local market and will also be sold through established retailers in Asia, including Alibaba Group’s Tmall Global.
