A Mega Save Chemist in northern NSW has been named Champion Pharmacy of the Year as part of the 2017 Australian Small Business Champion Awards
Mega Save Chemist Charlestown, based in the Newcastle region of NSW, has been named Champion Pharmacy of the Year at the 2017 Australian Small Business Champion Awards held on 1 April.
Owners Luca Boffo and Brady Haskell, and retail manager Brianne Lowe, were present at the ceremony along with staff members (pictured).
The Mega Save Chemist has been in the Charlestown area since 2010 and won Outstanding Pharmacy at the 2016 Hunter Local Business Awards.
While the pharmacy is preparing for its sixth birthday in July, celebrations have come early due to this most recent win.
“We are feeling amazing about the win, it’s really surreal. Staff morale is through the roof, they’ve all been working so hard,” Ms Lowe tells AJP.
She says the win is all due to excellent rapport with customers.
“It all comes down to our customer service. We always strive to give the best customer service in our area,” she says.
The team comprises about 16 staff, including the two pharmacist owners and an intern, and provides a variety of professional services including medication reviews, health checks and more.
Its front of shop and dispensary are both “ticking over really well” thanks to a VIP scheme for seniors, says Ms Lowe.
“We have our elderly patients but also have a lot of young mums coming in, lots of young families. Our baby nurse is always booked out. So we get to see both sides really,” she says.
“Our customers are really excited for us and celebrating this award with us.”
