Gold Cross announces new General Manager

Gold Cross has this week announced the appointment of Shayne Bland as the company’s new general manager.

Mr Bland’s appointment comes after the announced retirement in March 2020 of Trevor Clarkin, who led Gold Cross for over 20 years.

Having worked for Guild Insurance – a subsidiary of Guild Group Holdings – for more than seven years, and in the insurance industry for more than 18 years, Mr Bland brings a wealth of experience working with product development, sales and distribution, portfolio management and people management to his new role as general manager.

Mr Bland’s primary objective in this new role will be to lead and manage the Gold Cross business to grow in value and profitability, while ensuring the delivery of high quality, value-add products and services to benefit Pharmacy Guild members.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Bland said: “Gold Cross is a leader in the pharmacy sector and has played a critical role in supporting community pharmacy since its inception.

“Since joining Guild Insurance, I have had the opportunity to work closely with some incredible pharmacists and I look forward to expanding the reach of Gold Cross and its support of community pharmacy into the future.”

Senior National Vice President of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia and Guild Group Director Trent Twomey said the Guild was pleased to have appointed Mr Bland.

“I am very confident that he will provide a significant boost for Gold Cross and, with the help of the team, deliver some great benefits to the pharmacy community,” said Mr Twomey.
