Chemmart is set to host its inaugural ‘Masterclass’ – a unique, industry leading professional development and training program advancing pharmacists’ skills in the area of customer communication.
According to Chemmart Services Manager Katie Fala, there has been an overwhelming response from pharmacists, with hundreds registered to attend the event in April.
“There is a strong desire from our community of pharmacists to improve themselves and enhance their skills, particularly in relation to Chemmart’s dispensing philosophy and delivering patient-centric care at their pharmacy,” Fala says.
“The response from our members has been extremely positive.”
The Masterclass program consists of research-based outcome-oriented workshops, enabling pharmacists to problem-solve barriers to customer engagement and empowering them to improve their professional practice through self and peer assessment.
Fala says that the Masterclass is evidence of Chemmart’s commitment to their pharmacists.
“The Chemmart Masterclass is just one of many ways that we demonstrate our commitment to ensuring that our Pharmacists are the best in the business and invest in the future of our pharmacists,” she says.
“Pharmacists are medicines experts with the skills and knowledge to play a much greater role in primary health care. The Masterclass will equip Chemmart pharmacists with the know-how to deliver this in their local community.”
The Chemmart Masterclass will be vested in communicating knowledge to attendees on four main pillars for pharmacy success including:
- a unique approach to pharmacy workflow to maximise Pharmacist and customer engagement;
- best practice counselling skills derived from understanding customer psychology and ‘readiness to change’;
- up-to-date clinical knowledge for the top two customer ailments – chronic pain and respiratory conditions; and
- practical skills to achieve appropriate professional recommendations and solutions.
The Masterclass professional development and training program will offer insights into whole of pharmacy solutions with the aim of improving Pharmacists’ soft skills. This will lead to an enhanced pharmacist-customer relationship promoting better health outcomes for customers.
“Through professional development programs like that of the Masterclass we hope to position ourselves as the best choice for pharmacy owners wanting to deliver better professional care to their customers,” Fala says.
“By attending April’s Masterclass, pharmacists will also fulfil their yearly CPD requirements. We are thrilled that this first-of-its-kind training program has been accredited for 63 Group 3 CPD credit points.”
Through the support of Apotex, Chemmart will also be offering the Masterclass at no cost to their members.
To be held over three days from April 12-14 at the Pullman Melbourne, the event will be facilitated by Owner of Doubleview Chemmart Pharmacy and Board Member John Bell and will include presentations from some of Australia’s leading pharmacy experts including Dr Abilio Neto, Dr Lesley Braun, Dr Stephen Carter and Dr Vicky Kritikos.
