Situation stabilising at wholesaler warehouse linked to COVID-19 outbreak

There have been no additional confirmed positive COVID-19 cases linked to a pharmaceutical wholesalers Victorian warehouse where there were reports of five cases earlier in the week.

Australian Pharmaceutical Industries (API) says it has taken extra precautions and measures to ensure safety at its Dandenong Distribution Centre.

In its 20 July update, the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) listed the API outbreak in its “cases currently linked to key outbreaks”.

In the report it said “5 cases have been linked to Australian Pharmaceutical Industries in Dandenong South”.

Speaking to AJP on 24 July, API “confirmed that it had no increase in COVID-19 cases in the last two days”.

“In addition to deep cleaning and sanitising its Dandenong distribution centre, API has taken the additional precautionary step of testing its entire team at the site,” the company says, adding that the distribution centre remains “fully operational.”

DHHS had not responded to a request for additional information on the outbreak at the time of publication.
