COVID-19 at Chemist Discount Centre

Another pharmacy worker has tested positive to COVID-19, and a Mitchell Shire pharmacy closed for cleaning

The Chemist Discount Centre Seymour posted a notice on Facebook over the weekend to alert its customers to the issue.

“We have been notified that a team member in our store has tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19),” the pharmacy wrote.

“As a health care provider, we already have very high standards of cleaning and hygiene in place for the protection of our staff and customers.”

The store said that it had been deep cleaned over the weekend in line with Government protocols, and is now open again.

It encouraged anyone who has concerns to contact the Department of Health’s hotline or the Federal Government’s COVID-19 online resources.

“The wellbeing of our customers, team and communities is our highest priority, and in line with public health advice, we are taking all necessary steps to ensure ongoing safety in our store,” it wrote.

The pharmacy later posted that “the staff member who tested positive is well and is isolating”.

Other staff members are also isolating and a replacement team is now working in the pharmacy until the regular staff can return, it said.

Several customers posted messages of support, saying they hoped for a quick recovery for the affected team member and negative COVID-19 tests for the rest of the staff.

The pharmacy is the latest to be closed for cleaning in relation to COVID-19, after a Western Sydney store patient returned a false positive over the weekend and a staff member at another Western Sydney tested positive the week before.

On Wednesday Victoria recorded 484 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths from the disease, as state Chief Medical Officer Brett Sutton said that a lot of the cases are from health care and aged care.

People living in metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire will be required to wear face coverings from 11.59pm Wednesday night.

Megan can you clarify, where you’ve said in the article that ‘the store said that it had been deep cleaned over the weekend in line with government protocols’, whether the deep clean was with exciting cleaning products available at everyday cheap prices? Will the level of covid response clean beat it’s competitors’ clean in price and quality should said competitors have a covid case?
