Sigma Healthcare has kicked off its COVAX working group to support pharmacy partners

Sigma Healthcare has initiated a dedicated working group chaired by its chief pharmacist, Brinley Hosking, to help prepare the network’s 1,850 pharmacies ahead of Phase 2 of the Covid-19 vaccination rollout.

Sigma Healthcare says that it is well positioned to support the Government’s objective of safely vaccinating the population by October.

The working group brings together 13 specialists including pharmacists, communications, logistics, and training experts to deliver a co-ordinated approach across the network.

Chief Pharmacist at Sigma Healthcare, Brinley Hosking, said: “There has already been an exceptional response from our pharmacy partners to the Federal Government’s expressions of interest process”.

“It is a natural extension of the commitment our pharmacists already show in delivering flu vaccines each year,” she said.

“Our pharmacists proudly served on the frontline at the height of the pandemic and are ready to help the community through this next phase.”

However, she warned that there is still limited information available on how the rollout will be delivered.

“That’s why we’ve established a working group to help plan for all scenarios and ensure our pharmacists are well supported as the rollout accelerates—from providing additional vaccination training, to tools to help coordinate logistics and communication to address customer queries in store.”
