Elise Apolloni wins Outstanding Community Spirit award

Elise Apolloni accepting Canberra Women in Business Award

Canberra pharmacist Elise Apolloni has been named the winner of the Outstanding Community Spirit award in the 2016 Canberra Women in Business Awards.

Apolloni, from the Capital Chemist Wanniassa, “exemplifies true spirit and tireless community engagement,” Canberra Women in Business says.

“After losing a colleague to suicide, she immediately looked to volunteer her time and energy to assist as a crisis supporter with Lifeline Canberra.

“As a community pharmacist and managing partner of Capital Chemist Wanniassa, she encourages her staff and customers to raise funds and sponsor many charities focusing on improving quality of life.”

Apolloni told the AJP that she felt, “pretty amazing – I’m pretty chuffed, actually,” about winning the award last night.

“I do a lot of volunteer work – I probably work less hours at the pharmacy so that I can volunteer,” she says.

“I love my work as a pharmacist, but also find so much satisfaction in volunteering.

“I’m a telephone crisis supporter for Lifeline Canberra, where I answer phone calls that come in from all across the nation.

“It’s really humbling and difficult at times, but it’s really rewarding.”
