In a media release, the Pharmacy Guild of Australia congratulated the early career pharmacists named as the Top 10 Rising Stars of Pharmacy.

A spokesperson for the Guild said all those named on the list were already making significant contributions to the profession and were leaders in their innovative approach to delivering the best health outcomes for their patients.

“These are the young pharmacists who are taking the pharmacy profession into the future and who are constantly challenging and questioning the established way things are done to find better ways of meeting the needs of the community and ensuring the profession remains viable and sustainable,” the spokesperson said.

“They display a commitment to the new model of community pharmacy which puts a greater emphasis on the delivery of professional services while maintaining the core dispensing activities.

“The 10 young pharmacists named on the list are just the tip of an iceberg of talented, dedicated and enthusiastic young pharmacists who are committed to their profession and to the wellbeing of their patients.”

Leading pharmacy identities have also commented positively on the list, and what it represents for the future of pharmacy.

Consultant clinical pharmacist Debbie Rigby said: “congratulations to all these brilliant pharmacists, proud of being a pharmacist and making a difference. And note 8 out of 10 are women!!! The future is pharmacy is good in their hands”.

Former Pharmacist of the Year Karalyn Huxhagen said: “This past year has seen even me go to the depths of despair for the profession I love. Watching and reading about these young pharmacists helps me to get out of bed and keep going each day. Their passion, drive and influence keeps those of us who have become jaded keep going”.

“You are amazing, talented and such wonderful ambassadors for our profession. Never give up your passion”.
