Election results are in for Pharmacy Guild committees in the two biggest states, with a number of new candidates elected
Some new faces will sit on the committees of both the New South Wales and Victorian Guild branches.
In NSW, where two separate tickets were going head-to-head in a hotly contest election, the following were elected:
From the NSW Pharmacy 1st team: Rick Samimi (current NSW president), Mario Barone, Catherine Bronger, Caroline Diamantis, Paul Jones
From the Members Action Team: John Black, Karen Carter, David Heffernan, Feras Karem, Richard Walsh (both John Black and Feras Karem are current branch vice-presidents)
Nominated by both teams: Greg Everett, Binh Luu, Judy Plunkett, Sally Sheehan, Adele Tahan
Current senior vice-president Phil Dibben was the most notable candidate not elected. George Mendria was also not re-elected, while Peter McBeath has retired.
Judy Plunkett, Karen Carter and Sally Sheehan are the three newly elected members.
Meanwhile, the seat-based Victorian elections have seen three new branch committee members elected, replacing Sam El-Ahmad, whose seat was contested, Stuart Hall and Bill Scott, both of whom have retired.
The newly elected members are: Vihung Kapadia (District 2), Marylin Tsitonakis (District 3) and Carlie Streeter (District 9).
Continuing to sit are: Angelo Pricolo (District 1), Guild national president, George Tambassis (District 4), state branch president, Anthony Tassone (District 5), Paul Krassaris (District 6), Grace Chong (District 7), Kin Chong (District 10) and Bruce Robertson (District 11).
There are still two Districts that are yet to have a representative elected in District 8 and 12. A second round of nominations for candidates will be called in September 2017.
Stage 2 of both state branch election processes – to elect office bearers – will commence on 14 July 2017.
