How did you celebrate WPD?

This World Pharmacists Day, pharmacists were praised for their role in the COVID-19 vaccination rollout, with a special message from Health Minister Greg Hunt

Health Minister Greg Hunt sent his best wishes to pharmacists for the day, and highlighted the crucial role that they have been playing in the COVID-19 vaccine rollout during the most recent outbreaks.

“You’ve made a massive difference. You’ve reached out to people, you’ve protected lives,” said Minister Hunt.

On the day’s theme of “trust”, Pharmacy Guild national president Trent Twomey pointed out that pharmacists have been consistently ranked in the top three most trusted professions across the country for many, many decades.

He also acknowledged the work of pharmacy assistants.

The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) said that this World Pharmacists Day was their farthest ever reaching campaign!

Meanwhile the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia took the opportunity of World Pharmacists Day to call for greater investment from all levels of government in the next generation workforce.

The Pharmacists’ Support Service thanked their volunteers for their hard work in providing the valuable service, particularly during a record year of calls from pharmacists seeking support.

Other groups pitched in their voice to celebrate the big day:

Monash Health shared: “When we think of frontline COVID workers, pharmacists may not immediately come to mind – but we couldn’t run our vaccination program without them!

“Thank you to our pharmacists for the critical role they play in supporting our community through COVID-19, and every day, ensuring medicine use is safe and effective!”

More MPs also gave their thanks for pharmacists’ contribution to supporting the community:
