Pharmacy Alliance has named the winners of its second annual Pharmacy Awards, recognising the achievements of independent pharmacies across the country

During its recent Members’ Forum in Cairns, Pharmacy Alliance presented three awards to outstanding pharmacies in Queensland and NSW.

Hooper Centre Pharmacy in Toowoomba, Queensland, was crowned the Alliance Pharmacy of the Year 2019; Partner Pharmacy of the Year was awarded to Ron Dunford Pharmacy in Parkes, NSW; and the title of Non-Branded Pharmacy of the Year went to Your Pharmacy in Chinchilla, Queensland.

Simon Reynolds, Pharmacy Alliance Managing Director, said that he was thrilled to see the quality of work and passion shown by Pharmacy Alliance’s 2019 award winners.

“With 700 independent pharmacies now part of the Pharmacy Alliance network, there are so many amazing members to choose from,” he said.

“However, Hooper Centre Pharmacy, Ron Dunford Pharmacy and Your Pharmacy all demonstrated outstanding innovation and excellent customer service.

“As trusted advisors, pharmacists are an integral part of the community and play a crucial role in improving the health and well-being of their customers,” said Mr Reynolds.

“Pharmacy Alliance understand our members operate within increasingly competitive markets, and our retail strategy is designed to help members win in their local market both now and into the future.”

Hooper Centre Pharmacy in Toowoomba, owned by James Chiu, Catherine Chiu and Jason Ou, won the Pharmacy of the Year award in recognition of their focus on customer engagement and dedication to delivering a unique customer experience including numerous charity initiatives and even in-store theatre productions.

“We are delighted to have taken home this award in such a large category of 700 members. It is rewarding to have the team’s hard work and commitment to our wonderful customers recognised. We couldn’t have achieved this without the support from our customers, who motivate us to keep striving for excellence,” said Mrs Chiu.

“We have a personal connection with our customers and know them by name and medical history. This allows us to provide exceptional quality of care and level of service, ensuring our customers feel valued and not like just another script number.”

Partner Pharmacy of the Year, Ron Dunford Pharmacy in Parkes, which is co-owned by Marcelle Zacca, delivered outstanding support for local community initiatives, and demonstrated consistently high retail standards and store presentation.

“Parkes has been faced with extreme drought conditions this year, something we at Ron Dunford Pharmacy know can have a devastating effect on the physical and mental health of their local community,” said Marcelle Zacca.

“We have a team that are truly focused on the health and welfare of their local community. Not only are the team great retailers, but in the last 12 months they have helped raise $10,000 to buy water for local farmers affected by drought.”

Non-Branded Pharmacy of the Year, Your Pharmacy in Chinchilla, demonstrated outstanding sales growth and retail performance, while also supporting their local community through both internal and external engagement activities.

“The health of our community is extremely important to us. We work hard to deliver personalised care to each customer and engage as an active member of our community,” said pharmacy manager Katie Porteous.

“We’ve teamed up with a local group and personal trainer, RYP Fitness, to host a free in-pharmacy Pilates class every Tuesday for local community members.”

Pharmacy Alliance says it aims to grow its independent pharmacy network to 1,000 by the end of 2020.
