The Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia has welcomed Dr Jacinta Johnson to its Board of Directors

Filling the casual vacancy left by Steve Morris’ departure in early August, Dr Johnson adds the new role to a career lecturing in pharmacy at the University of South Australia and practicing as the Senior Medication Safety Pharmacist within the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network.

The SHPA described Dr Johnson as a member with deep-rooted involvement and commitment to the organisation.

Chief Executive Kristin Michaels said that with contributions spanning across SHPA’s Pharmacy Growth, Research, Innovation and Training Editorial Committee, the SA/NT Branch Committee and Specialty Practice Education and Educational Visiting Leadership Committee, Dr Johnson is well-placed to bring a unique blend of expertise and energy to the role.

As the 2017 SHPA PL Jeffs Early Career Pharmacist Award winner and 2018 PSA Early Career Pharmacist of the Year, Dr Johnson is passionate about supporting and advocating for early career and emerging pharmacists.

“I’m excited to be able to contribute to the strategic direction of the organisation and the work SHPA does ensuring young pharmacists experience rewarding careers that have a meaningful impact on community health,” says Dr Johnson.

Ms Michaels thanked Steve Morris for his service and leadership on SHPA’s Board of Directors and congratulated him on his new role as Chief Executive Officer of NPS MedicineWise, commencing in September.
