Man steals and takes meds, collapses

A man went to a pharmacy in Kadina, South Australia to demand drugs which he immediately took

The man threatened staff at the pharmacy in New Town, Kadina with a firearm, South Australian police allege.

The man allegedly demanded prescription drugs from the staff, which he then took and self-administered.

The next thing he did was collapse. The pharmacy staff then evacuated the premises.

Police say they were called to the pharmacy at about 5.20pm on Friday 21 September.

They were concerned for the alleged robber’s wellbeing, entered the store immediately and took him to the Wallaroo Hospital.

The 43-year-old man was in a critical condition, and remained under police guard.

The police seized the firearm.

They said that no staff members at the pharmacy were physically injured.
