De-listing of paracetamol from PBS is pure speculation

A roundup of the latest changes to the PBS

There have been a number of changes to the PBS from 1 May.

Among the new items listed are four Norspan (Buprenorphine) patches and three separate strength Targine (Oxycodone + Naloxone) 28 tablet packs.

Nexazole (esomeprazole) 20mg and 40mg tablets have been added to the PBS.

There are also changes to the listings of Humira and Enbrel, among other products.

The TGA has also updated its information sheets for pharmacists on the newly listed Hepatitis C medicines Harvoni (ledipasvir with sofosbuvir), Sovaldi (sofosbuvir), Daklinza (daclatasvir), Ibavyr (ribavirin), Pegasys-RBV (peginterferon alfa-2a with ribavirin), Viekira Pak (paritaprevir with ritonavir with ombitasvir and dasabuvir) and Viekira Pak–RBV (paritaprevir with ritonavir with ombitasvir and dasabuvir and ribavirin).

This information outlines their respective item codes, and regulations around whether they can be dispensed with S85 or S100 prescriptions.
