A new way has opened up for pharmacists to order medicinal cannabis online

CannabisAccess, a restricted access service portal that helps healthcare professionals navigate information and regulations surrounding medicinal cannabis in Australia, has announced a major upgrade.

The portal now allows pharmacists to order medicine cannabis online, and gives doctors the ability to apply for state approvals to prescribe.

“For doctors and pharmacist going through the approval process for the first time, it can be both confusing and time consuming,” says CannabisAccess CEO Giles Craig.

“Our aim is to increase the efficiency of healthcare professionals and, by doing so, facilitate more patients getting access to the benefits of medicinal cannabis.”

Products available for order via the CannabisAccess website are those that have been approved for import by the TGA.

Product can be ordered via CannabisAccess only once the TGA approval has been granted.

If state approval applies, the product can only legally be dispensed once state approval is also granted.

The website is a new addition to a burgeoning medicinal cannabis landscape in Australia.

For example, in mid September this year, the Medicinal Cannabis Medicines Portal was launched to facilitate medicinal cannabis access and ordering processes between manufacturers, health professionals and patients.
