The Quality Care Pharmacy Program is undergoing significant enhancements via Quality Care 2020

It is vital that pharmacies are across these improvements, says the Pharmacy Guild.

The 2020 Australian Pharmacy Professional Conference and Trade Exhibition (APP2020) will host a session informing delegates of the Quality Care 2020 changes ahead, to enable pharmacies to plan and prepare for 2020 and beyond.

QCPP provides a framework for community pharmacies to provide quality, safe and consistent professional services and consumer care. Quality Care 2020 will align the QCPP Requirements with the latest Australian Quality Care Community Pharmacy Standard and contemporary industry practice.

Program Sponsor for Quality Care 2020, Colm Maguire said the conference session will particularly help pharmacies to plan for their QCPP assessments, as QCPP transitions to the Quality Care 2020 framework from 1 July 2020.

“The APP conference is a great opportunity to ensure you are well placed to undergo your QCPP assessment in the enhanced Quality Care 2020 Program,” Mr Maguire said.

“Our team will explain the changes and improvements that have been developed to support your pharmacy in 2020.”

Chair of the QCPP Reform Working Group, Simon Blacker said Quality Care 2020 will help to improve the overall quality of services in pharmacies for the benefit of the community.

“We are passionate about the opportunity to improve quality in pharmacy through Quality Care 2020,” Mr Blacker said.

“The changes in Quality Care 2020 will help community pharmacy be more innovative and continue its leading role in delivering primary health care into the future, whilst considering patient health outcomes with regards to safety and quality.”

As part of the Quality Care 2020 enhancements, a pharmacy portal will be released and available for all QCPP accredited pharmacies to access from January 2020. The Quality Care 2020 portal will include features to manage QCPP account and assessment arrangements, and access to important Quality Care 2020 Program materials, information and resources.

To ensure access to the Quality Care 2020 Portal from January 2020, pharmacy owners must complete the pre-registration form by 1 December 2019. The pre-registration form can be accessed on the QCPP website at

APP2020 will be held from 19-22 March 2020 at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre. Download the program for more information on this session and take advantage of early bird savings by registering before 31 January 2020 at
