More one-to-one connections

The SHPA’s pharmacy mentoring program is back again in 2020

The program now offers broader opportunities than ever for hospital pharmacist practitioners to boost their potential through fully facilitated and expertly matched pairings, SHPA says.

Applications opened on Thursday.

For the first time, 20 scholarships will be available – through the support of HESTA, 2020 SHPA Mentoring Program Scholarship Partner – which SHPA says will enable more one-to-one connections as participants build confidence, sharpen focus, dismantle barriers and grow job satisfaction.

SHPA Chief Executive Kristin Michaels says the program, now in its third year, will see the return of Platinum Partnerships.

‘These connections are truly a cut above, drawing on the latest approaches to professional mentoring,” she said.

‘In our Platinum Partnerships, pharmacist and technician mentees draw on the skills and experience of more senior practitioners through expertly facilitated training and purpose-matched and supported pairings.

‘For Platinum Partnership mentors, direct access to two of Australia’s best executive coaches and tailored integration workshops will ensure developed techniques and skills can be applied to enhance their daily leadership practice.’

The 2020 SHPA Mentoring Program Prospectus was also released today, including information on submitting an application and applying for scholarships, supported by HESTA.

Ms Michaels says the scholarships will open opportunities for more practitioners to access world-class mentoring.

‘SHPA is mindful there can be reduced opportunities for collaborative professional development in different parts of the country, particular in Australia’s rural and remote areas.

‘We envisage our new scholarships will encourage applications from a broader base of hospital pharmacists and technicians, which aligns with our commitment to promoting equity across all professional advancement programs and services.’

Scholarship applications close 5.00pm AEDT Monday 30 March, with outcomes advised in mid-April.
