The search for Australia’s best pharmacy is on again as applications for the Pharmacy Guild of Australia Pharmacy of the Year Award 2016 open today.

The competition recognises and rewards community pharmacy businesses who go beyond the call of duty and ensure consumers of professional pharmacy based health services receive the best care, medication and advice.

Pharmacy Guild members can enter in the three categories: Excellence in Business Management, Excellence in Community Engagement and Innovation in Professional Services.

Among the category winners, an overall winner of Pharmacy of the Year 2016 will be crowned.

The competition is open to all Guild member community pharmacy businesses. Previous Pharmacy of the Year Awards entrants, including winners, are also welcome to submit entries this year.

Pharmacy Guild National President George Tambassis says the competition highlights leaders in their field while showcasing outstanding examples of innovation, business management and community engagement in community pharmacy.

“We’re looking for well-managed, high performing, industry leading pharmacy businesses that are at the top of their game,” he says.

“I’d encourage members to start thinking about their applications now. You should include reasons why your pharmacy business should be considered for the award and give plenty of examples of how you’re striving for excellence and helping improve the health outcomes of your customers.”

Entries for the competition open 19 August 2015 and are set to close 14 October 2015.

Further competition details, including how to enter, are available on the Pharmacy of the Year website.
