Pharmacy robber pepper sprays himself

A robbery in Western Australia last week went wrong when a man attempted to spray a pharmacist with pepper spray – and instead turned the spray on himself.

According to WA police, a man entered the pharmacy, on Safety Bay Road in Shoalwater south of Fremantle, at 5.50pm and helped himself to several items before fleeing the store.

A second man joined him and they ran through the car park of a shopping centre.

The pharmacist gave chase, and when he caught up to the two men, one attempted to spray him with pepper spray.

Unfortunately for the thief, the canister was facing the wrong way – and he sprayed himself instead.

The second man then threatened the pharmacist with a knife.

The two were last seen running east along Afon Avenue towards Frederick Street.

They are described as being aged 18 to 21 years of age, fair skinned, of medium build. They were both wearing black pants and black hooded jumpers with dark grey sleeves.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or report the information online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au.
