TerryWhite Chemmart Samford in Qld has been named Pharmacy of the Year, while Judy Plunkett has won the Rhonda White Leadership Award
TerryWhite Chemmart (TWCM) has recognised outstanding pharmacists across health, customer service, innovation and leadership at an awards ceremony held on Tuesday night in Sydney.
The TWCM Rhonda White Leadership Award was given to Judy Plunkett, an owner pharmacist for 36 years and a member of the TWCM group for 25 years.
A member of the NSW Guild branch committee, Ms Plunkett played a major role campaigning on behalf of the industry in relation to the codeine scheduling changes.
She has also been instrumental in bringing more doctors to the Port Macquarie, NSW area to provide greater healthcare for her community.
“I’ve been in service to the community through pharmacy my entire life and I couldn’t be more proud to win this award in honour of Rhonda, who is a great leader for women,” said Ms Plunkett.
The Pharmacy of the Year Award went to TerryWhite Chemmart Samford, Qld, for customer service excellence, led by owner Karen Brown.
Mr Brown, who has been managing partner of the Samford pharmacy for over a decade, was named 2018 Pharmacist of the Year by TWCM in April.
“We are super excited and thrilled to have won the inaugural TerryWhite Chemmart Pharmacy of the Year Award, which caps off a huge year for us at Samford!” said Ms Brown.
“Thank you to the TerryWhite Chemmart team for all their support and helping make our success possible.”
Brad Smithson and Tom Powell from TerryWhite Chemmart Chester Pass Albany, WA, won the Innovation Award for a highly successful initiative that engages new parents, called ‘MUMadvice and ‘daDADvice’.

Meanwhile TWCM has shared “significantly improved” financial and operational results to its members.
TWCM CEO Anthony White said the network’s retail transformation strategy delivered improved savings in cost of goods sold during the past 12 months.
“Our key focus is to increase the efficiency and profitability in our pharmacies through simplified operations and reduced cost of goods, by delivering a more productive product range and by promoting a differentiated customer proposition,” Mr White said at the TWCM conference held in Sydney this week.
TWCM’s largest conference so far, with more than 560 registered attendees, formally kicked off on Sunday with the announcement of a new advisory group that will play an important role in the network’s development, particularly around customer engagement, new health initiatives and pharmacy engagement.
