PPA President, Dr Geoff March welcomed the announcement of pharmacy remuneration and regulation review panellists as an opportunity for employee pharmacists to shape the future of pharmacy.
“Last night, the Health Minister, Sussan Ley announced a comprehensive, independent review of pharmacy remuneration and regulation,” PPA said yesterday.
The review will look at a range of factors that contribute to patient health outcomes and the quality use of medicines.
“The current remuneration is a system focused on what a pharmacist does rather than what the health consumer needs,” says Dr March.
“This review is an important one for health consumers as well as for pharmacists.
“We regularly hear about how prepared pharmacists are to take on new roles to better utilise their clinical skills as well as the need to create a system that delivers fairer wages for employees,” says Dr March.
“This is an opportunity to demonstrate how employee pharmacists have a critical role to play in shaping the future of pharmacy.”
Members should contact PPA if they wish to get involved in our participation in the review, the union says.
