Robber flees with cash

Police are investigating an armed robbery at Southport, in which a pharmacist was threatened with a firearm

Police have released video of a man who went to a pharmacy in Nerang Street, Southport, at around 9.50pm on Monday night.

The man, clad entirely in black including a hoodie with the hood up and a face mask, entered the pharmacy carrying a garbage bag and went behind the dispensary, the footage, which appears on myGC.com.au, shows.

He repeatedly approached the pharmacist, pointing a gun at him while the pharmacist picked up an object, holding it in a defensive manner.

Police say that the man demanded money and prescription medicines.

After walking back around the front of the dispensary counter, the man was handed a quantity of cash from the till by the pharmacist.

He then approached the dispensary again, before leaving with the cash.

Police say he was last seen running east along Nerang Street.

The pharmacist was not physically harmed during the robbery, police say.

The investigation is reportedly ongoing.

The Gold Coast has seen several pharmacies targeted by offenders so far this year, including when a stolen Porsche was used in a March robbery.
