Susan Lee is Tasmania’s Pharmacist of the Year

Valley Road Chemmart Pharmacy owner Susan Lee has been named Tasmanian Pharmacist of the Year, in recognition of her significant contribution to the pharmacy profession.

The award was presented at the 2016 Tasmanian Pharmacist Awards gala dinner hosted by the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, The Pharmacy Guild of Australia, University of Tasmania and The Society of Hospital Pharmacists Australia.

Lee was recognised for her performance across a number of key areas including delivery of professional services, health promotion, innovation, advocacy, professional development and community programs.

She says the award is an honour and she is grateful to both her loyal customers and dedicated team for their ongoing support.

“The award highlights the important role our highly trained and motivated team members play in our customers’ lives each and every day, through a commitment to delivering the best possible health outcomes,” Lee says.

“We pride ourselves on serving the health needs of our local community and we constantly work to look for new ways to meet the ever changing needs of our customers.”

Terry White Group Chief Operating Officer Duncan Phillips says Lee’s proactive approach to delivering exceptional and dependable health advice made her an extremely deserving recipient of the award.

“Susan is a progressive industry leader through initiatives including installing the first Consis dispensing machine in Tasmania and her visionary approach to providing professional services to community members including home medicine reviews, flu vaccinations, MedsChecks and a variety of health checks,” Phillips says.

“I couldn’t be prouder that Susan has been recognised with this award.”

In addition, Lee was acknowledged for the professional development of her team to ensure they can deliver strong health outcomes for customers and the active role she plays in her community, having established a summer walking group to encourage a healthy lifestyle.

“Susan embodies the core values of the TerryWhite Chemmart group,” says Phillips. “This is evident in both her latest award and previous recognition as Tasmanian Chemmart Pharmacy of the Year in 2012, 2013 and 2015.”

Terry White Group CEO Anthony White says Lee’s recognition highlights the important role pharmacists play in the delivery of highly accessible and leading frontline healthcare to customers.

“Susan has gone above and beyond, taking an innovative approach to serving the health needs of local community members by embracing and actively seeking new ways to offer a range of vital health services,” White says.

“The TerryWhite Chemmart pharmacy network is focused on delivering leading frontline healthcare and we are extremely proud to have Susan within our expansive network already helping us to achieve this.”
