The week in review

We take a look back at the week in Australian pharmacy

Penalty rates continue to be a hot topic: almost a third of employee pharmacists who responded to our poll told us that they’d decided to leave the profession as a result of the cuts to penalty rates announced by the Fair Work Commission. The PM, meanwhile, called the pay cuts “minor“.

The Guild moved to encourage the Government to fulfil its commitments on risk share and 6CPA programs.

We got a snapshot of what pharmacists have been up to: PSA released an update on pharmacist vaccination, and the Pharmacy Board released a detailed breakdown of pharmacy demographics.

Meanwhile, the industry’s getting ready for the biggest event of the year in pharmacy: the Australian Pharmacy Professional conference on the Gold Coast. Stephen King won’t be there, but Health Minister Greg Hunt will; and AJP will cover the conference from our dedicated media stage. Don’t forget to come and say hello, and enter our prize draw!
