Consumers are becoming increasingly discerning in their approach to complementary medicines, says a TWC pharmacist: and as a result, new higher strength, higher quality, targeted vitamins are finding favour in Australian pharmacies.
Terry White Chemists chief pharmacist Jeff McEvoy says professional grade vitamins are fast growing in popularity as a tool for preventative health and health management.
“Professional or practitioner grade vitamins are really only starting to become readily available in Australia but demand for them has been growing for some time,” McEvoy says.
“They do cost a little more but the benefits are clear – they are much higher strength so you don’t need to take mountains of them and being formulated without gluten, dairy, eggs or artificial flavours means they are agreeable to a wider range of people.
“Professional grade vitamins are very high quality – from the ingredients used, right through to the manufacturing processes.
“They are evidence-based and are perfect for those who want to take their complementary medicines a little more seriously.”
The Terry White Group recently launched its own range of professional vitamins – Nourex Professional.
McEvoy says it has grown quickly to become the second biggest professional vitamin range within the Group’s pharmacies.
“As well as demand from our customers, we had increasing demand from the network’s pharmacists for a highest quality, evidence-based vitamin range that aligned with the health goals they had for their customers,” he says.
“It was important to them that they knew where the ingredients in the products were from and that they knew the manufacturing plants embraced best practice standards.
“These are the things of primary concern to those customers that are seeking the very best vitamins available.
“Our pharmacists want to be able to have answers and they want to be able to trust and recommend the products they offered.”
The Terry White Group is the only Australian pharmacy name to offer a private label professional range.
