The TGA has issued a safety advisory regarding BFB Be Fast Block Capsules, Big Penis U.S.A tablets and Lanky Genuine Capsules
All three products pose a serious health risk and should not be taken, it advises.
The TGA tested a product labelled BFB Be Fast Block Capsules and found that the capsules contain the undeclared substance Clenbuterol.
“Consumers are advised that Clenbuterol are a prescription-only substance in Australia It is not marketed in Australia, but is included on the World Anti-Doping Authority’s list of banned substances,” it says.
“It has some popularity as a drug used by bodybuilders and for weight loss.
“The supply of BFB Be Fast Block Capsules containing undisclosed Clenbuterol is illegal.
“BFB Be Fast Block Capsules have not been assessed by the TGA for quality, safety or efficacy as required under Australian legislation, and the place of manufacture is not approved by the TGA.
“TGA investigations have shown that a number of people in Australia may have bought the product online.”
The TGA also tested Lanky Genuine capsules and found they contain the undeclared substances sibutramine and phenolphthalein.
“Consumers are advised that sibutramine is a prescription-only medicine (which was the active ingredient in Reductil),” the TGA advises.
“It was withdrawn in October 2010 after a study showed an increased risk of major cardiac events.
“Phenolphthalein is a prescription-only substance previously marketed as an oral laxative, withdrawn from sale from many markets in the late 1990’s due to concerns over its carcinogenicity with long term use.”
When the TGA tested Big Penis U.S.A tablets it found that the tablets contain the undeclared substances sildenafil and chloramphenicol.
“Consumers are advised that sildenafil and chloramphenicol are prescription-only substances in Australia.”
Consumers are being advised to bring any remaining capsules or tablets of these products to pharmacies for safe disposal.
