Aussie cricket legend Steve Waugh will launch Victoria’s first Blooms The Chemist pharmacy in Cranbourne Park, Melbourne on Saturday, March 28, 2015.

In his new role as ambassador for the pharmacy group, Waugh will appear in store between 12-1pm to meet and greet fans and sign select copies of his latest book.

Blooms The Chemist is expanding its 88-strong network of community pharmacies throughout metropolitan and regional areas of NSW and QLD, with Cranbourne Park representing its first foray into Victoria.

“I like the philosophy behind Blooms The Chemist – looking after the community and building relationships with people who enter the pharmacy,” says Waugh.

“I particularly like the family feel and how the pharmacy’s staff connects with local residents.

“Blooms The Chemist will fill a gap that’s not catered for right now in Victoria.”

According to Waugh, the range of HealthChecks offered by Blooms The Chemist throughout the year is what sets the pharmacy group apart and positions them as pivotal to enhancing the health and wellbeing of their local communities.

“Blooms The Chemist pharmacies are aptly known as ‘Your first call pharmacy professionals’‘,” he says.

“They act as a bit of a buffer before heading to the doctor for further professional advice.

Regular HealthChecks include sun awareness SpotChecks, sleep apnoea testing, asthma and stroke risk assessment, cholesterol screening diabetes and blood pressure monitoring and flu shots], and provide a level of service that’s second to none.

“I’ve had my blood pressure tested and regularly visit my local Blooms The Chemist at Cronulla to have my skin checked,” says Waugh.
