WA Premier Mark McGowan has headed to the Wizard Pharmacy Kalgoorlie Central to present it with the Pharmacy Guild of Australia’s 2020 Excellence in Professional Innovation Award
The award was presented at Kalgoorlie’s Lorna Mitchell Spring Festival on Sunday 11th October.
This award recognises the investment the pharmacy has made to provide excellent customer service and unique product offerings to go above and beyond to meet community needs while highlighting the dedication of the pharmacy to provide the community with trained professionals.
Wizard Pharmacy Kalgoorlie Central has partners extending far into the Western Australian outback and is a critical partner in the delivery of medications to nursing home patients, Aboriginal Health Services and the greater Goldfields community.
Wizard Pharmacy Kalgoorlie Central Franchisee Elise Wheadon says her team are passionate about providing for the community and working collaboratively with allied health professionals for the best health outcomes of patients.
“With a forever changing health landscape, it has never been more important for community pharmacy to extend its services and be at the forefront of providing health solutions to patients for the best patient-centric care.
“We have learnt that the more connections between health providers, the better the outcomes for patients and the more effective and appropriate continuation of care can be engaged,” said Ms Wheadon.
Ms Wheadon is a regular advocate for the Goldfields region, owning and operating two pharmacies in Kalgoorlie for the past 14 years while raising her three children alongside husband Trent.
“Being based in Kalgoorlie and being recognised for our dedication to our community means so much to us as it confirms we are making a positive difference to people’s lives.
“I want to share this with all our wonderful customers; without them, we wouldn’t be anywhere. Our amazing team deserve massive praise for sharing a vision of quality service and providing outstanding patient-centric care,” said Ms Wheadon.
Wizard Pharmacy Kalgoorlie Central was also the first pharmacy in Western Australia to dispense an e-script which are in the process of being rolled out across Australia.
