Both Greg Hunt and Catherine King confirmed as speakers at APP2019
Both Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt and opposition Health Spokesperson Catherine King have confirmed they will be attending, and addressing APP2019 on the Gold Coast in March.
By the time APP2019 comes around, we will be closing in on the last few months before a federal election needs to be called, leading some pharmacy figures to speculate that the politician’s appearances may be more
Mr Hunt will provide the opening keynote address and present the Pharmacy of the Year award on Thursday 7 March, while Ms King will speak during an exclusive session from 10.45am – 11.00am, also on Thursday morning
APP Chairman Kos Sclavos said that it is important to hear from all major political parties in the lead up to the next Federal Election.
“We are delighted ALP Shadow Minister for Health and Medicare, Catherine King MP has confirmed her attendance at APP. Catherine has been a regular at APP and we look forward to hearing her perspective on community pharmacy and the broader pharmaceutical sector,” Mr Sclavos said.
“As a supporter of pharmacists, Catherine King MP is a firm believer in having a ‘broader’ role for
pharmacists in Australia’s health system.”
“It’s great news that Minister Hunt, will once again attend APP as our keynote speaker on day one. We appreciate his involvement and don’t take for granted his participation every year since becoming Health Minister,” he said.
“With 2019 being an election year and the federal budget being handed down within a month of APP, this may be his most important presentation ever held.”
